Stopped by Lulu's hawaiian BBQ on the way home from shopping. I go by this place and have always wanted to try it. We were greeted with a smile and helped by a pleasant young man. This is a smaller restaraunt with about 10 tables to sit at. After ordering, we got our order in about 10 min. I saw they had garlic shrimp on the menu so decided to try it. When I think hawaiian and garlic shrimp, I think more along the lines of the food truck peel and eat garlic shrimp they have all over hawaii. This surprised me to open the box and it be fried shrimp. There was a big amount of chopped cabbage on the bottom of the container. The cabbage would have been good but it was raw not cooked. The shrimp was good. Just not what I was expecting. There was a large amount of rice as well. The macaroni salad was really good. We also ordered the garlic chicken. It was really good. Definitely enough food that you can have a few meals of it or split it. We also ordered a couple spam masubis. They were good but a little overloaded with rice. I would prefer a slight bit less rice. I have never seen banana Lumpia. I decided to give it a try. I was pleasantly surprised that it is delicious! I enjoyed every bite of the unique dessert. Overall, this is a really good place to grab some good hawaiian food. The service is good, food is good and prices are reasonable.

While I was shopping in the Decatur/215 area, I had decided to pick up some lunch at Lulu Hawaiian BBQ. Lulu Hawaiian BBQ is off of the 215/Decatur exit, inside a large plaza next to Habit Burger and Walmart. There is spacious amount of parking. Lulu Hawaiian BBQ offers a wide range of options such as the following Burgers Saimin Teriyaki Bowls Boba Drinks Shrimp Hawaiian BBQ Chicken Chicken Katsu BBQ Beef Loco Moco and so much more! I ended up ordering Kalua Pork and rice, for a to-go order. The check-out process was seamless. The team member at the register was helpful! The bag was packed with napkins and utensils. I brought the meal home to eat. It was packed with Kalua pork, so much that it had lasted for 2 separate meals, lunch, and dinner! The Kalua pork was delicious and flavorful. It wasn't dry! If I was looking for another quick option for Hawaiian BBQ, I would stop by Lulu's again!

This is our go to Hawaiian restaurant! If you are looking for good Hawaiian food, done right, with huge portions, then Lulu's is your place! We love to order takeout from here because by the time we get in the car and drive to pick it up (we live less than ten minutes away) it is always ready to go. Because the portions are so generous, you will likely get two meals out of one entree, I like to have this for dinner then have the leftovers for lunch the following day. If you haven't tried this place, do yourself a favor and go gets some.

We tried the Lulu Hawaiian BBQ in North Las Vegas. It's a small casual restaurant with about 10 tables inside. You order and pay at the counter and seat yourself. We have two kinds of Hawaiian BBQ restaurants in this area. We have the kind that are "Chipotle Style" like a buffet behind glass. We also have the fresh made food to order. The food is fresh made to order here so you might have to wait a reasonable time for it to be prepared. We tried a variety of things (bbq beef, bbq chicken, fried shrimp, fried fish, spicy chicken. All the proteins were prepared well. We personally liked some things more than other things maybe due to our personal taste but everything was reasonably good. I thought the one thing that stood out was the macaroni salad. It was richer and creamier just like the way I'm used to. The portions are extra large and prices are low for what you get. The woman there taking the orders also checked on us and even brought me a bag to take leftovers home. This place did have a more authentic atmosphere than some of the other nearby Hawaiian BBQ restaurants. I'd recommend this restaurant for Hawaiian BBQ and also great value.

When it comes to Hawaiian BBQ, authenticity is key. Lulu Hawaiian BBQ delivers on this front by offering a menu filled with traditional Hawaiian dishes that transport you straight to the islands. The experience here is more than just food; it’s about embracing the aloha spirit that Hawaii is known for.

The flavors are bold yet balanced, creating a mouthwatering experience that is both satisfying and memorable. Each dish at Lulu’s reflects the rich cultural heritage of Hawaii, combining influences from Polynesian, Asian, and American cuisines.

One of the highlights at Lulu’s is their Loco Moco, a quintessential Hawaiian comfort food. This dish features a bed of steamed white rice topped with a juicy hamburger patty, a fried egg, and smothered in a rich, savory brown gravy. It’s a hearty meal that’s perfect for any time of the day. The Kalua Pork, another crowd favorite, is slow-cooked to perfection, resulting in tender, smoky meat that pairs beautifully with their house-made coleslaw and macaroni salad.

The Art of Hawaiian Plate Lunch

A significant part of Hawaiian culinary culture is the plate lunch, and Lulu Hawaiian BBQ does it justice with their generous portions and flavorful offerings. The concept of the plate lunch originated in the 19th century, when laborers working on plantations in Hawaii needed a substantial midday meal. Today, it’s a beloved tradition that Lulu’s has embraced wholeheartedly.

At Lulu’s, a typical plate lunch includes two scoops of white rice, a scoop of creamy macaroni salad, and your choice of protein, such as teriyaki chicken, beef short ribs, or the classic Mahi Mahi. The balance of flavors and textures in each bite is what makes the plate lunch so satisfying. The sweet and savory notes from the teriyaki sauce, combined with the slight tang from the macaroni salad, create a harmonious flavor profile that keeps diners coming back for more.

For those new to Hawaiian BBQ, the Mix Plate is an excellent way to sample a variety of proteins. This dish typically includes a combination of BBQ chicken, beef, and pork, giving you a taste of everything that makes Hawaiian BBQ so unique.
